Abstract

Literature is an art in which a writer presents the situations and events around him in front of his readers by making them a part of his writings. Every literature has its own distinct genres. In which the writer experiments in the form of prose and poetry genres. Among the poetic genres, Ghazal is a genre that is considered the oldest genre of Urdu literature. In Urdu literature, two schools have been particularly popular for their ghazal poetic tradition. Great poets have been associated with these schools. But apart from all these, great poets have proved their mettle in even more remote cities. A city like Dera Ghazi Khan, which in many respects lagged behind in poetry due to its distance from these schools, has remained far behind. But time has brought it to the same level as these schools. This is the reason why today many great poets feel proud to claim their connection with this city. Syed Tahir's poetry collection consists of four books, the names of which are as follows. The first collection of poetry, Zindah Rahaan Pada Hai, was published in 2007, while the second collection of poetry, Harf Hay Rang Wa Boo, was published in 2015, the third collection of poetry, Tarsab Ke, was published in 2020, and the fourth collection of poetry, Zaar Binai, was published in 2024. Reading Syed Tahir's ghazals, it does not seem that he is confined to a single school, rather he has written on every subject and written in a very beautiful style. This creates a triangle around which he seems to revolve. He gives proof of his passionate love for the Almighty, coming out of him, and he fully corrects his poems in a Sufi style and seems to be successful in it. Syed Tahir has a lively and beautiful way of expressing resistance in his ghazals. He describes resistance in different colors. He wants to change the destiny of all mankind, to erase every stain that affects his personality. He wants to solve all problems not by force of force but by force of love. If we examine Syed Tahir's ghazals as a whole, we see a whole galaxy of themes in his ghazals, which may be due to the fact that he has a sense of a class in his heart that is suffering from oppression and barbarity. He also has many ghazals that look closer to poetry than ghazals. Therefore, if these ghazals are put on the page in the form of poems, we will see many glimpses in them that are written in the guise of poems about colonialism. Syed Tahir, who was educated in an academic and spiritual atmosphere on the land of Al-Mukhtasar Taunsa, seems to be a true and genuine human being as well as a great poet. He was born in a land where chiefs and elders rule, but despite this, he welcomed a new wave in his life and his region and expresses his love for his region and the people living in his region in his heart. Along with being a Ghazal poet, he is also a very good Naat poet, which is the real reason for his recognition.
